01 – Freezer Temperature
The recommended fresh food temperature is 37 degrees Fahrenheit, and the recommended freezer temperature is 0 degrees Fahrenheit. For the ice maker to function properly, the freezer temperature should be set between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15 degrees Celsius). If the freezer temperature is too high, ice cubes will take longer to form or may not form at all. Try lowering the freezer temperature a little.
02 – Water Inlet Valve
The water inlet valve is an electrically controlled valve that opens to allow water to enter the dispenser and ice maker. A screen may be used on some water inlet valves to filter debris before it enters the valve. If the screen becomes clogged, water flow is restricted, resulting in small or layered ice cubes. To function properly, the valve requires at least 20 psi. Replace the water inlet valve if the water inlet valve has sufficient pressure and is receiving power but the ice maker will not fill with water to make ice.
03 – Ice Maker Assembly
If there are no ice buildup or suspected water supply problems, you may have a problem with the ice maker control. One of the ice maker assembly’s components could be faulty. Because many ice maker components are not sold separately, you may need to buy and replace the entire ice maker assembly. The heat release ice maker is the most common type of ice maker found in modern refrigerators. Because the heat release ice maker testing procedure involves a live voltage test, it should only be performed by a qualified professional.
04 – Ice & Water Filter
From functioning properly the majority of filters contains and is constructed of carbon and fabric filters. Over time, the filter may become clogged, reducing water flow to the ice maker and resulting in the symptom of little or no ice. To maintain proper water flow and ensure water quality, the water filter should be replaced every six months.
05 – Door Switch
When the refrigerator door is open, the door switch turns off the ice and water dispenser. The dispenser will not operate if the door switch fails. Use a multimeter to test the door switch for continuity to see if it is faulty. Replace the door switch if it does not have continuity when activated.
06 – Icemaker Switch
The ice maker switch could be faulty. It’s also possible that the icemaker switch was accidentally turned off. Check to see if the switch is turned on. If the icemaker is turned on
